History Of The Web

The idea of a network of connected computers dates back to the 60s. Many people beleive that the World Wide Web and the internet is the same thing. But in reality they are difernet. The World Wide Web is the websites you see on the internet, and the internet is the a network of connected computers.

The first website was created by Tim Berners-Lee in 1989, whyle he was working at CERN.
The CERN website was created so people could easly access infomation.

In 1991 Tim Berners-Lee published the code for the World Wide Web on the internet. This allowed anyone to help contrubute the the creation of the web. The fact that Berners-Lee and CERN made the World Wide Web open source and free made it possible for the internet to evolve as fast as it has. The early 90s saw the rise of Mosaic, the first user-friendly browser, and Netscape, which would go on to reign supreme for years. Both browsers used Berners-Lee's conceptual breakthroughs and code. The same is true for Internet Explorer, which, after its creation in 1995, became the go-to browser for most people.

The goal of this website is to inform users about the creation of the web in a website that looks like it was created in the 90s. Click how it works to learn more about the web.

I am still working on this website, so you may notice some changes.
